This piece, which I called “Splash”, is a conceptual representation of the moment after a stone is thrown and hits a glassy body of water. It is for a regional art exhibit called OneTree, hosted by Live Edge Design and The Robert Bateman Foundation Gallery of Nature. It runs from November 16th 2019 – February 29th 2020 and celebrates the life and value of a single tree by inviting participating artists to create as much beauty from its wood as possible. I am fortunate to be one of the artists who has been entrusted to prolong the life of this 200+ year old Maple through art. I filmed the entire build as a way of honoring the process, as well as the finished piece, and in doing so, created more “art”. This truly is a remarkable tree and has a great history.
