A log salvaged off the shores of Campbell River was the starting point for the Drifter Bench ONE. Washed up in a storm, the alder log had been adrift until lodging itself on the beach. The log was then milled into slabs, about 10 to be exact, and air dried for a couple of years. Wanting to keep the “feel” of the log evident in my piece I left the live edge as untouched as I could. If you look closely you can still see grains of sand embedded into the live edges. The black steel accents give the piece a subtle modern industrial feel while adding functionality, as in the case of the shoe shelf. This is hopefully the first piece in a series of pieces from this same log. BUILD | BEAUTIFUL
